The Sacred Scent of South America

Palo Santo is known as the "sacred tree" and produces a sweet, velvety fragrance with citrus notes. Indigenous Shamans consider the smoke to be protective, purifying and enable deep spiritual contact. Aromatic trees are also called the trees of the gods and grow in various places around the world. They have been used since ancient times in rituals to purify not only the atmosphere, but also the body and mind.

Burning time: 60 min/ stick

Number: 30 knitting needles without bamboo core and with handmade ceramic holder. Harvested in Peru. Made in Japan.

The Chië Collection: is a more luxurious line of incense from Nippon Kodo inspired by the wisdom of our ancestors and adapted to modern life, allowing you to connect with nature and create a ritual space of peace around and within you.

Chië does not use essential oils and is made exclusively from the natural aromatic ingredients. The burning time for the various ingredients differs and is maintained so that the unique quality and characteristics of each fragrance can emerge.

The Japanese word Chië refers to the ability to see things as they really are in order to understand the ultimate truth. In Zen, Chïe is the result of meditative practice. The Zen calligraphic circle on the packaging is called "en-so" and represents infinity and the universe as a whole, associated with pure enlightenment.

Use & Rituals

What is Zen Meditation?

In our busy lives, we are always looking for ways to release stress and seek solace to rest our mind and body. One of the effective methods is Zen meditation, or "zazen (坐禅)" which has been used in Japan for centuries. Zazen means "sitting meditation" which is a main practice in Zen Buddhism.

Zazen's origins can be traced back to an Indian monk in the 6th century, however, Dogen Zenji, a Japanese Buddhist priest/philosopher who lived in the 12th century, is considered to be the pioneer of the practice.

  • Let intuition guide you

When you shop online and don't have access to your sense of smell, you can always trust your intuition to guide you to what you need. Perhaps a particular flower evokes a feeling. The name of an herb makes you remember childhood. Choosing fragrances is about being sensitive to the senses and letting the feeling guide the choices. The body knows what it needs. We just need to stop and listen.
